Exclusive Interview: Edgardo Rivera, 10th Survivor Voted Off

Apart from the painstaking challenges, assortment of players and outdoor scenery, one thing that got the viewers hooked with Survivor: Fiji was the connivances and backstabbing issues that surrounded the participants. This was especially the case for Edgardo Rivera, the 10th Survivor eliminated on the competitive reality program. In an interview with BuddyTV, he shared his sentiments on his Survivor experience.

Rivera, a 28-year old native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, got his education at the Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. While studying, he became engrossed with tennis and became a member of the Davis Cup National Team. At present, he works as a regional account and planning supervisor.

Rivera’s inclusion on Survivor: Fiji was not really intentional, although he was a fan that considered the show as the most genuine reality program, compared to other shows that were partially scripted. His friend was actually the one that applied but was unfortunately rejected. Upon his friend’s recommendation and submitted application of Rivera, Rivera got a call and went through a meticulous casting process.

As far as his elimination is concerned, he really felt disappointed with the outcome, getting forced in a manipulated situation, influenced by Dreamz and prompted by Mookie’s revelation of the immunity idol. But if things went according to plan, they would have picked Alex to get voted off, consequently eliminating Cassandra because of Alex’s immunity.

In the end, Rivera was glad that he had hindsight of nearly everything that went on during his inclusion, which was contrary to what Survivor had projected. He was actually nervous about seeing himself on screen since he did not know what to expect. At any rate, he deemed his Survivor experience as something very memorable.

To catch more alliances formed, not to mention more backstabbing action, watch Survivor: Fiji every Thursdays 8 PM ET/PT on CBS.

Women And Poker 1

Part I: A Brief History of Women in Poker

The precise history of poker is one that is riddled with myths and legends. The truth is that no one historian of the game knows for certain how poker came to be the world famous phenomenon we now see every day on our TV screens. Some have speculated that because it closely resembles the Persian game of as nas, Persian sailors may have passed this game on to settlers in New Orleans while restocking supplies at the local harbor and it eventually took hold as the modern game known as poker.

Others believe that it may be an offshoot of the Irish card game Poca or even the French game poque, which is thought to be descendant of the German pochen (which essentially means to brag as a bluff.) The true origin of the game may never be known and in fact the more likely story is that somebody created poker after learning various similar games from different backgrounds.

Whether poker is a Chinese, Persian, Egyptian, French, German or Irish creation is of no consequence. What is certain is that some point in history the Persian Ganijifa (Treasure Cards) were changed from a solely Persian game into a new hybrid called poker.

French colonials are thought to have imported their beloved poque to the New World when they first arrived in Canada. The game was then brought to New Orleans in the beginning of the 18th century by a group of French Canadian settlers.

In 1834, Jonathan H. Green made one of the earliest known written references to poker when he mentioned rules to the “cheating game,” that had been gaining popularity on various Mississippi riverboats. Before people knew how it even happened, poker became the fashionable game for river-boaters all over the Mississippi. What started out as Louisiana phenomenon quickly turned into one of the most popular games in America.

At the turn of the century poker was still an illegal game in most parts of the United States. Its popularity was too wide-spread to keep its fans from playing and the game soon spread to the Old West where legends such as Wyatt Earp and Wild Bill Hickock earned reputations as sharp card players as well as pistol slingers.

While poker became a popular mainstay among men, women soon caught on and began playing as well. The first of these women to gain a serious reputation is none other than Poker Alice, the first known professional female poker player. Born in Devonshire, England she soon moved with her family to Colorado where she married a mining engineer, Frank Duffield. After the death of her first husband Alice needed a new way to support herself. Duffield had shown her a few hands of poker and she had taken a liking to the game. After his death she began to pursue gambling as a career becoming a card dealer.

During her career as a poker player, Alice gained a serious reputation. On good nights she would earn as much as $6,000 and would gloat amongst her peers daring any newcomers to try their luck against her. Never one to be caught off guard, she was known to carry a .38 revolver with her and never hesitated to use it. By the time of her death in 1930 she had already firmly established herself as one of the most legendary poker players of all time and paved the way for future generations of professional female poker players.

During the 1920’s, there were only five games that were legal in Las Vegas and three of those were variants of poker. The legalization of gambling began in 1931 and the first legal casino license was issued to a woman, Mayme Stocker. Her husband and boys were working for the railroad and anybody caught in the gambling world who worked for the railroads would be immediately fired from their job. That is why Mayme put the license in her name instead of her husband’s. It was a good gamble for the Stockers as they quickly became one of the leaders of the casino community in Las Vegas.

Although legal in Las Vegas, card playing remained illegal throughout the rest of the United States. It was during these post-Prohibition years that poker gained its reputation as secretive game played in back alleys and garages. Doyle Brunson, one of the original Rounders (road gamblers), often talks about how taboo the game was, "I remember one time back in the fifties," he shook his head as he reminisced, "I saw an old college buddy walking down the street, coming toward me. He crossed the street so he wouldn't have to talk to me."

Gradually poker gained popularity to the point where, nowadays, almost everybody has at least played poker for sunflower seeds or M&M’s. Starting in the late 1990’s a new game started to emerge on the poker scene, that game was Texas Hold’em. Ever since the creation of Texas Hold’em, poker has become one of the most popular games in the world. Nowadays one can see more poker on ESPN than baseball and kids start playing for money as early as Junior High.

Along with the explosion of the contemporary poker scene we have seen the emergence of women as dominating figures in the game. Who are these women and just how successful are they? These questions and more will be answered in Part II!

Make The Most Of British Spread Betting

We Brits love to bet. We always have and most likely always will. We bet on sports. We bet on games. We even bet on television and on superstars. We can't seem to help ourselves - perhaps it is in our blood. Whatever the reason we can't get enough, it is evident that we are in our glory now that we can take our passion online and bet even easier than ever before. One clear indication of this is that the majority of the last World Cup bets were placed online and that overall betting on that event was up 60% from the previous World Cup.

While there are in fact other nations that do appreciate betting to some degree, it seems that we are well ahead in a lot of those statistics. One such example is spread betting. Spread betting is not even allowed by law in many places including the United States. In Britain, one estimate is that up to 400,000 of us currently have spread betting accounts.

Basic Spread Betting

Spread betting involves complicated sporting indexes that are made up from the odds of certain things happening. For example, the index may say that in a particular game, there will be between 10 and 15 points awarded in a certain type of play or certain type of goal. That means that the 'spread' is 10-15. A better who bets (or 'buys') in at 1 pound will then either win or lose money based on if the actual number of those type of goals ended up under the spread or over the spread amount. If the actual number was less than 10, the better must pay out money lost. If the actual number is higher than the spread, the better wins.

Spread Betting and Finance

Outside Britain, spread betting is more of a financial term. Especially in the U.S., it is seen as a money game for investors who play the markets. Spread betting in this case is done when companies provide the chance to gamble on the future prices of commodities or on company stock.

Spread betting is generally seen as a high risk financial game and it does not have a place in sport and entertainment gambling in most places outside Britain. As we know however, the internet has erased borders in many ways and online spread betting in the UK is being enjoyed by people from all over the world.

Cautious Enjoyment

While we aren't afraid of spread betting and what it has to offer here in Britain, it isn't for everyone. Experts caution us against getting into this type of betting if we are not familiar with how the numbers work and the fact that we can lose more than our bet in one fell swoop. Once you learn the ropes and decide you can afford it, it might just be the game for you too.

Never considered faint of heart, Britons are actually embracing spread betting in ever increasing numbers. It can be an exhilarating change to regular betting and many like the additional risk involved in this kind of play.

Everything You Need To Know About Subwoofers

Subwoofer refers to either a woofer, or a complete loudspeaker dedicated to the reproduction of bass audio frequencies, typically from 150 Hz down to 20 Hz.

Subwoofers are useful for augmenting main loudspeakers by providing playback of low bass frequencies at high levels. Subwoofers are available in several formats, including bass reflex, acoustic suspension, infinite baffle, horn loaded, tapped horn and bandpass types. The range of sounds from lowest to highest that the subwoofer is capable of reproducing is called frequency range. The actual frequency range can vary depending upon the type of box, crossover point, and the vehicle the subwoofer is installed in.

All loudspeakers characteristically exhibit trade offs between frequency response and response time or transient response depending on the characteristics of the voice coil, properties of the magnetic motor, the cone mass, and the nature of the enclosure.

The voice coil consists of a bobbin with wire wound around it. The voice coil is attached to the bottom of the cone and extends into the air gap surrounding the pole piece. The voice coil translates the magnet's energy into cone motion. Cone size and voice coil inductance are major factors for a subwoofer.

Subwoofers use drivers woofers typically between 8" and 18" in diameter, but some have been as large as 60". Some drivers as small as 4" may be referred to as subwoofers but drivers less than 8" generally have neither the cone area nor excursion ability necessary to produce deep bass, especially in practical sized enclosures. The most common subwoofer sizes in professional concert audio are 12", 15" and 18".

A brief history

The first subwoofer was developed during the 1960s by Ken Kreisel. Kreisel's solution was to design a powered loudspeaker that would reproduce only those frequencies that were too low for the electrostatic speakers to convey and thereby fill in the missing sonic information. Infinity's full range electrostatic speaker system of about the same time also used a subwoofer to cover the lower frequency range the electrostatic arrays did not handle adequately. Subwoofers came into greater popular attention in 1974.

Applications of subwoofers

Subwoofers are used in various systems. The main areas of application include professional audio, home audio, car audio and many other fields. Subwoofers are now almost universal in professional sound applications such as live concert sound, churches, nightclubs, and theme parks. Professional audio subwoofers must be capable of very high output levels. This is reflected in the design attention given in recent years to the subwoofer applications for sound reinforcement, public address, and concert systems.

A subwoofer does not necessarily provide superior bass performance in comparison to large conventional loudspeakers on ordinary music recordings due to the lack of very low frequency content on such sources. Most home and car systems have much smaller and unmatched drivers at low frequencies; they attempt to reproduce very low frequencies with large cone motions.

Downloading IPod Music - Did You Know It Is So Easy?

iPods are the best thing that could happen to the music buffs. It is amazing that technology has allowed us to carry thousands of songs in such a small device. There are many add-ons which allow you to download music. However, do you really know anything about downloading music through the internet?
It is actually very easy to download music into your iPod. I give here a step by step guide on how to go about it. To begin with, you need to go to Google. Next you need to type "download Music" or any other similar variation like "downloading free music" and search the net. In a fraction of a second you will find thousands of websites offering you free as well as paid download. You may choose any one that you find suitable. But be a little careful. They all claim to be fastest and the best but as it is not really so.
And beware! Many of the sites even try to deceive you by giving wrong information. For instance, their downloading speed could be painfully slow, or the sound quality may make you feel like banging your head against the wall or the customer care service could be a torture! Many of them don't even have the latest chart busters or latest releases in their lists.
Honestly speaking, there are only few high quality sites on the net which offer you free and legal song and music download. There are sites which make downloading music into your iPod actually fun. They have a huge selection of music and songs and are up to date and friendly in their customer care services. The downloading speed is amazing. Google has rated only five out of these thousands of websites as good enough for your time and energy. So choose with care!
For downloading music and songs into your iPod you may notice sometimes that the music is sounding weird. If you want to download music from your computer then you may need a device called the iPod Music Liberator. It also fills in the missing itunes feature. With the help of this device you can transfer downloaded music to another computer too. You may consider downloading first in your computer and then transfer it to your iPod. This way the sound quality will be as good as the original.
If you are concerned about the legal aspect of downloading then be assured (Do you actually expect the police to come knocking at your door for downloading a few such songs?!) Most of the websites have the feature "no uploading". It means that you can download freely from the site without uploading anything on it. This takes care of all the legal issues you can think of.
Thus downloading iPod music is quite simple and fun. Just remember to select the correct site though!

Beginner's Guide To Poker Hand Rankings

You may be wondering, why discuss the Poker Hand Rankings? It's a good question. The reason is quite simple.
Beginners often don't know what will beat what in Texas Hold 'em and a lot of people who have played for some time, think they know, but possibly don't really know either.
Here is a quick reference guide for you to print out and use as a reference, just in case you ever need to check back to verify what you already know!
We'll start with the lowest possible winning hands and go up from there.
HIGH CARD ACE
For example, A-9-5-3-2 In case of a tie, then the next highest card would be determined as the winning card.
ONE PAIR
Highest pair wins, in the event of a tie then the highest card wins. Example 9-7-3-3-2
TWO PAIR
Two Pair. Example Q-Q-4-4-2
THREE OF A KIND
Three cards of the same numerical or face card rank Example: K-K-K-9-4
STRAIGHT
Five cards in sequence. Example: 7-8-9-10-J
FLUSH
Five Cards of the same suit. Example: 5-6-7-8-9 all of Hearts

FULL HOUSE
Two Cards of one rank and three cards of another.
Example: Q-Q-J-J-J
FOUR OF A KIND
Four of the same exact cards. Example 5-5-5-5-2
STRAIGHT FLUSH
Five cards in the same suit in numerical order.
Example: 2-3-4-5-6 of Clubs
ROYAL FLUSH
The most beautiful poker hand you will find! Same suit A-K-Q-J-10
Hopefully these few tips will help you the next time you sit down at a poker table and find that some of the hand rankings aren't fresh on your mind like you had hoped!
This is handy to keep somewhere close to your computer as a "cheat sheet" if you are new to the game and still want to have a little more confidence in your play.
Try using it for a while, and then you can put it away when you don't need it as a crutch anymore!
Do keep in mind; because each poker game is different, sometimes it helps to keep a cheat sheet around for hand rankings when you are playing numerous online games, especially if you have the tendency to jump in and out of different games.
The most common mistake you find new players making in Texas Hold'em is the three of a kind and straight , if you don't know that a straight beats a three of a kind , you'll remember it after it beats you a few times!

Online Bingo Players In The UK

There is a multitude not only of online bingo sites, but of networking bingo sites that game players across the UK are hooked up to. Through the bingo networks, players can chat to one another, find out about new sites and new games, big winners and tips, and virtually everything to do with online bingo.

Through networks such as these, UK players are able to sidestep the boredom that may set in from only knowing and playing one specific bingo site; and god knows how quickly the glamour can dissipate from online bingo without the steady chat and support of other fanatics out there. Networking is the way to keep online bingo light, exciting and part of the daily routine - assuming that's what you want!

Demographics

Apparently for young women in the United Kingdom, bingo is the most popular leisure hobby and given the tendency of women 20-25 to spend a lot of time on the internet, it follows that this demographic group spends a lot of time playing online bingo.

To cash in on this trend, big name companies on the internet have begun their own sites, networks and chatrooms. Even traditional bingo parlours have moved their services online, determined not to miss out on all the virtual money that's flying around. It is estimated that 50 000 people are playing online bingo instead of showing up to their local parlour these days and by far, most of these players are women under 50.

St. Minver Ltd. surveys showed that the UK was third overall for the most online bingo players, behind the US and Japan. That said, the UK was dubbed the fastest growing market for online bingo, and this has advertisers and foreign bingo companies swarming all over the country via your telephone and wireless connections.

Despite the stigma of the bingo parlour, current statistics show that people over the age of 65 only make up 2% of the total bingo-playing population. The highest number of players, some 29%, are between the ages of 35 and 44. Given the unusually high number of online bingo players in the UK, this means that most of them are quite young and not at all destined for the nursing home at the end of the day and maybe knowing this will spread the hobby even further throughout the country. Clearly, no one wants to admit to playing a grandmother's game. But bingo is obviously (according to the statistics) a young woman's game these days.

How To Cheat At Poker

'
You can cheat at poker successfully if you're careful and practice ahead of time. You can play either online or face-to-face and the way you cheat is slightly different, but each way gives you a distinct advantage that other players don't have. Let's look at both online poker and live poker since both use some of the cheats.

Working in a partnership is one method that online poker players use to sucker in others. The two may actually be one person with two separate connections or even at two different addresses with a handy cell phone, planning the next move to sucker the others into the game. You can have collusion during live poker games also. Simply enter the poker game at separate times and keep your knowledge of each other quiet. The players use prearranged signals to let the partner know the cards or whether one has a strong hand and wants increased betting.

A second method to cheat at poker is to stack the deck if you're playing a game that each person at the table gets a chance to deal. It isn't that difficult. If there are five people at the table, pick up the cards in such a way that every fifth card is one you want for your hand. Fake a shuffle. To do this you need to make it look like you're shuffling without actually doing it. When you pass out the cards, you get the best hand.

A third method is a marked card. You can mark your own cards so that you always know which one it is. A simple bend to the corner makes the card unmistakable to the trained eye. Most casinos trade cards frequently and the dealers watch for this, so this is for those backroom games that you play, not for the casinos.

You can use a software program that allows you to see the other player's cards when you play online poker. You can of course see the advantage to this. No more wondering whether the other player is bluffing, you know immediately. This type of software gives the player using it the biggest possible advantage.

Use nicks to mark the cards. Similar to bending the corner of the card, a sharpened nail can make a nick in the cards at various spots so you know where specific cards are located. You have as many potential nicks as you can remember. Again, this is for non-casino games since casinos make it their business to discard cards that have nicks.

The last possible cheat showed up at a local casino. There were two players left in the game. The first player placed a high bet and the second player called. The second player had only looked at the first five cards and not the last two. When the betting ended, the first player called that he had a straight, threw his cards in and scooped up the pot. The dealer actually took the cards of the second player and he never even knew what hand he had or saw the other player's straight. Calling the hand and scooping the chips may have been legitimate but no one ever knew because it all moved so fast. When the other player protested, the casino told him there was no way to check. This type of cheat isn't effective if used too frequently.

Choose the way you want to cheat to improve your game. Most of the time, you will learn a lot more about poker and begin to see others that cheat you in the game. Then, you have the ammunition to win those hands you should have won.

Dragon Sketches - Learn To Draw

Firstly, find some current pictures of Dragons - the older and more mythical..the better. The best type of dragons are those of a traditional scaly dragon, with wings. Inspiration can be found by doing a search for "Welsh Dragons" via Yahoo Images.

For the first Dragon Sketch , roughly place the head, body and legs. The flow of the spine and wings are important but basically just figure out the composition first.

Develop the dragon by adding a "lizard look", change the head to a more reptilian style and remember the eye shape is very important.

Refine the drawing by adding muscles in the joints and limbs and linking the anatomy. At this point its useful to go back and reference your Dragon Sources.

Shading and cross-hatching are important in adding depth to a sketch. It's easy to over-work a drawing, but if detail such as claws and scales are added it will improve the Dragon.

At some point in time you may want to colour your Dragon. The usual colour is muddy greens, but I like to experiment with reds or dark brown where the Dragon could have been scorched by it's own flames!

Euromillions: Combining The Force Of European National Lotteries

Euromillions is probably one of the best things to have come off the European Union. It's a lottery where people from participating European countries are able to make a bet on the Euromillions at stake. Obviously the prizes at stake are much larger than national lottery.
The draw takes place once a week every Friday evening. What makes the prize money for Euromillions larger than the national lotteries is that the stakes from the different participating countries are pooled together to generate a jackpot prize that is jumbo even under normal circumstances. The prize even becomes larger as the main prize is rolled over to the next Euromillions lottery draw. After a few weeks without a winner, the prize can be as much as EUR50 million.
The Combined Forces Behind Euromillions
Aside from the cash prizes, what makes Euromillions very exciting is the fact that it is backed by the government-backed national lotteries of the United Kingdom, Spain, and France. This assures gamblers that winnings are adequately paid out. But perhaps the most important draw of Euromillions is that cash prizes are tax-free so you get your prize in full.
To play in the Euromillions, a bettor must be at least 18 years old. Now it really doesn't matter where you are coming from, anyone can play here. You can place a bet at global lottery ticket agencies.
Participating Countries
The European countries participating in the Euromillions include Austria, Belgium, France, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, and United Kingdom.
These countries have official ticketing offices that you can buy tickets from. You can buy a ticket at these places for 2 Euro or 3 Euro if you play with a plus option.
Euromillions: It's Not As Complicated
Now a lot of people assume that it is a complicated lottery game, and at first glance it may seem like that, but it really isn't that way. Most people just don't have the patience to understand how the game works. If you are one of those people, you might want to consider signing up with a reputable lotto agency.
How It Works
Drawing for the Euromillions lottery agency work this way:
• The Euromillions official lottery agency draws 5 balls from 50. A machine called Stresa randomly selects the numbers.
• The Euromillions official lottery agency draws two balls from nine balls that are dubbed Lucky Stars. A machine called Paquerette randomly selects the numbers.
• The Euromillions draw takes place every Friday evening.
If there are no jackpot winners, the jackpot prize is rolled over to the next draw, thus increasing the jackpot prize.
The odds of winning a cash prize in a Euromillions lottery are 1:24. Euromillions pays out its cash prizes in lump sum. There really is no proven way to increase your chances of winning at the Euromillions, but applying a bit of math in your choices can work in your favor. In general, consistently retaining a set of numbers in your bets can do wonders in this game of chance.

Sports Betting - How To Make Money From Mlb Betting

Bet on MLB baseball can be full of fun and extremely profitable as well. The main objective behind preparing this article is to enlighten the fundamentals of baseball betting. Here, we'll discuss about the line in addition to some points, which will assist you in winning more betting on the MLB baseball. Betting on baseball revolves all around the line of honey money. Unlike basketball and football that use spreads, bettors in baseball sports just simply need to choose the real winner of each game event. The "spread" is operated in money which must be taken or laid for each side. For instance, let us assume that the New York Yankees are playing in defense of the Kansas City Royals. Let us suppose, this year of Yankees is going great and the Royals are not having that great year. Here, you might witness a line as Yankees -300 Royals +270. In our instance, you would need to wager your $3.00 on the team of Yankees in order to get back your amount for every one dollar. Unlike basketball and football, the NY Yankees don't require winning the game by a certain amount. All they need is to win the game anyhow. Bettors who bet for the Royals according to our instance would receive $2.70 for each $1.00 that they wagered. Let's take a glance at another instance. Now, we'll see at a game against 2 first place team, let's assume the team are-Team A and Team B. Each and every things being equivalent, the line might probably be something like Team A -110 Team B +105. You can see, as the teams are closer, the line is also closer to $1.00. It is really significant to keep in mind that the spread's job is not actually to predict the probable outcomes, but is to split opinions of public. Now, here are some of the quick best tips needed to be considered when betting a MLB baseball game. When you're deciding who would be the winner of a MLB baseball game, take a glance at the entire team. The sports bettors, who often lose, usually look at the early pitching. However, starters will just pitch around 66% of the whole game on average. So, what about the remaining 34%? Therefore, never fall into trap of purchasing starting picturing. Always complete your homework and then look the team as a whole.
To discover the SECRET of how to make BIG money from betting on MLB games , you don't want to miss this POWERFUL MLB betting system , which can help you win up to 97% of your MLB bets.

Lottery Syndicates - Should You Participate?

There are times when you've got to look up to the power of "One" and there are times when you just have to say "Team". When talking of lotteries, you increase your chances of winning manifold when you participate in an e-lottery syndicate.

An online syndicate harnesses the power of the internet to enable people participating in a lottery to win more frequently. This happens because when you purchase a lottery via a syndicate, you automatically make yourself eligible for the winnings of other members. In essence you are entering a given lottery draw multiple times at no extra cost. Thus, your chances of winning increase exponentially. Of course, the winnings are split between the participants. So, an e-lottery syndicate is basically a trade-off between a potentially huge lottery win against better chances of winning a smaller packet

Syndicates can span many countries; for example Virtual World Direct (VWD), which runs a syndicated effort for the Euro Millions lottery, is available to citizens from Belgium, France, Spain, Austria, Ireland, Portugal, Switzerland, and Luxembourg. The vast player population along with the combined lotteries of different nations makes Euro Millions the biggest bumper lottery system out there.

By becoming a member of an e-lottery syndicate you get access to some of the largest tax-free lotteries in the world. Membership is easy; all that is required is a computer with an internet connection and a credit card. With an e-lottery syndicate you do not need to keep purchasing tickets every week and visit your lottery seller for checking results. The whole system is computerized and when you win you are intimated by email. You do not have to go anywhere to collect your winnings, they are sent to your house.

There are several online resources which review e-lottery syndicates. You can refer these before you decide upon the syndicate most suited to your style and pocket. Membership fees may vary and the number of participants in a group can also differ. You should also check for member reviews on different online forums, inputs from your countrymen can be especially revealing. Check for the kind of customer service and back-office support offered by the syndicate. Of course, scams abound and you should be alert and not fall prey to anything that sounds too good to be true.

Two popular lottery syndicates are the UK National Lottery syndicate and Euro Millions syndicate run by VWD. The UK National Lottery syndicate consists of multiple groups with 49 members in each group. So, the winnings in a group are shared by 49 members. With just £5, you make yourself eligible to winning against 88 lines that open every week. The money is to be paid 4 weeks in advance. The draw occurs twice a week. The VWU Euro Millions syndicate has 39 members to a group and there are 36 lines in each draw.

Finally, you could also take a look at the range of software available for lottery and gaming enthusiasts. This includes syndicate management software for syndicates, entry management software, and lottery analysis software for the players.

A Bird In The House

Living in the country we have come to expect seeing different species of animals. Deer occasionally grace our presence. Of course, once we are seen by them they quickly disappear. One day as I was looking out a back window there were 7 or so wild turkey. After flying away, they have not returned. Many different birds come to our three feeders. Sunflower seed is spread on the ground for the doves and squirrels. Cardinals and smaller birds also search for food on the ground but the smaller ones mostly enjoy the feeders with their perches. We started throwing it on the ground to keep squirrels from eating the plastic off our original bird feeders. Now we have "squirrel proof" feeders that do a good job of keeping them from the food contained within.

Living in the country there is plenty of land for all God's creatures. A wooded area begins within thirty feet of the rear of our house providing food and protection for wildlife living there.

What we didn't expect happened early one morning in the summer. With me being a sound sleeper, I could not imagine what my wife was saying at 2 in the morning. My glasses with thick lenses were on a table beside the bed, where I had left them before I laid down to sleep. A ceiling fan was on chasing the heat away. Barely awake I could see something attached to the fan, circling with the fan blades. Once, the object made oblong path around the fan. Soon, by wife had turned on the light, my glasses were on and we saw a bird following the path of the fan blades. I quickly closed the bedroom door to keep the critter from the rest of the house.

With the light on we realized it was a bat! Why didn't our cats alert us? The first task was to get rid of the bat. It was indeed following the path of the fan blades. Taking the screen off the windows we tried, lamely I might add, to divert its course with pillows and out the window. This was not working. I had folded the curtains over the top. Once, when the bat landed on the top of the curtains, he "walked" up the inside of the folds of the curtain. A fascinating site this would have been under different circumstances.

Obviously, this method was not working. A towel might work. My wife opened the door with the bat still following the flight of the fan blades. Returning with old towels, my wife and I started making attempts to again divert the bat outside the window, his freedom and ours. I didn't realize how high our ceiling was, although they are only 8 feet or so. The bat was evading our feeble attempts. I jumped, with the length of the towel spread out, and missed. Another attempt, nothing! Finally, my wife said, "you caught him." Now what do I do? Do I take him, still wrapped up, to the outside? Do I open the towel and hope he flies away? I opted for throwing the towel out the window and hoping he flew away.

With the windows now closed we opened the bedroom door to our two cats' right there wondering why we had locked them out! Lying back down, it was difficult to return to slumber land.

The next morning I went outside to retrieve the towel, wondering what I would do if the bat was still wrapped inside. Fortunately, he was gone. We are still wondering how he came into the house and chose our bedroom.

The Latest Information On Photo Blankets

Photo blankets have been available for personalization and customization for many years now. With changes in technologies and photo clarity, these personal renditions of life have grown and changed as well. Photo blankets are available in a variety of style, but how can we know what each style offers. Comparing photo blankets is a great way to decide which is best for your needs.

Woven photo blankets are most often created from cotton or acrylic yarns. The images chosen for the blanket by the consumer appear as woven patterns. Taking an up close look at woven photo blankets, the consumer will notice individually colored yarns combined to make one large image. Similar to a woven rug, the end result is a clear image from afar, with a grainy result up close.

Woven photo blankets are finished in one of two ways. The edges will either be left in a fringe edging, where the yarn pieces are hanging freely, or in a bound edging. The fringe edging may have a tendency to fray after numerous washings or heavy usage. The bound edging, on the other hand, leaves the woven blanket with a border of color, similar to a photo frame.

Knitted photo blankets are produced in a similar manner to woven photo blankets. While these blankets tend to use both cotton and acrylic yarns as well, the photo image remains woven, in this case, knitted directly into the fabric of the blanket. The knitting result feels just like a knitted sweater. Again, the far away look of the blanket produces an overall total photo, but when an up close look is taken, separate yarn pieces, knots and colors render the picture unrecognizable.

Photo blankets that are knitted also have a stretchy quality unlike their woven alternatives. The photo knitted into the blankets tend to blur and disfigure when stretched. After a period of time, the fabric will lose the ability to retract and the image with remain stretched and deformed.

The yarns used in the manufacturing process of both woven and knitted photo blankets tends to vary, as does the selection process. Some companies use a machine and computer program to select the proper yarns colors through an automated process. This automation does make for a faster turn around time, but if the program is off on a shade or two, the resulting blanket may not look like the photo at all.

The second yarn selection process is completed through hand selection. Individuals choose each color by comparing different yarn shades to the original photo. While this process may seem more intimate, each human eye sees colors in a different way. A teal to one eye may look like a blue-green to another. The human selection process tends to yield a photo blanket resembling the original photo exacting as seen by the person choosing the yarns.

While hand selection and machine selection are both used for full color woven and knitted photo blankets, monochrome or black and white images are generally produced from two colors of yarn, black and white. Unfortunately, using only these two colors removes the residual rainbow of grays present throughout a black and white photo.

A photo blanket creation that is not produced from a knitting or weaving process is picture blankets. These photo blankets take the photo image and reproduce the same image onto a blanket surface. The production process is similar to the printing process of a digital photo and the resulting blanket is just as clear. When the photo is dyed onto or into the fabric, there are not separations of color as with the knitted product. Only sharp photo lines and images both up close and far away.

Unlike the woven and knitted photo blankets, picture photo blankets reproduce the image directly into the fabric. The colors are identically matched just as they would be with a digital photo print. Due to this difference in the manufacturing side of the blanket, there are no mistakes or color variances. The photo from which the blanket is created, is the same photo the blanket displays.

Black and white photo blankets are also available from the picture photo blanket process. Unlike the woven and knitted varieties, again, the picture is printed or dyed into the fabric using all of the colors present in the photo. If there are ten grays, ten grays are used in addition to the blacks and whites. The end product, when grays are used, tend to be clearer and display an increased depth of image.

Another difference between the woven and knitted varieties and the picture photo blanket is the ability to render an almost dual use blanket. The picture photo blanket is backed with a solid color fabric of the customers choice.

All three types of photo blanket creations are offered in various sizes. Ranging from a lap blanket size of 30” X 40” to a queen bed size of 60” X 80”. With every photo blanket the rule seems to stand that the larger the blanket, the larger the original photo image should be in order to produce the best end result.

The processing times for the photo blankets tend to differ as well. While woven and knitted photo blankets tend to take anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks to process (shipping time will be added onto the end of the processing time), the picture photo blanket processes in 3 to 7 days.

While the photo blanket is not a newcomer to the gift giving industry, never before have their been so many different photo blanket creation processes to choose from. Photo blankets can either be woven or knitted from yarns or dyed in to the fabrics. All three processes offer a different look, feel and end photo result. Whether you decide on a weaving process, knitting process, or photo reproduction process, your memory will appear on your photo blanket. The only way to choose which photo blanket is right for your needs is to learn about them all.

Strip Poker Clothing

What counts as clothing in strip poker ? Many people have a very different opinion on what counts as clothing in strip poker . Of course there are the obvious items of clothing like jeans, pants, shirts, blouses, underwear, and anything else that is pretty common. The items that bring the most debate are items like earrings, hats, shoes, socks, and rings. I personally would not count these items as clothing but everyone has their own way of playing. Before getting started on your poker game it is best to clarify what counts as clothing and what does not count as clothing.
I am going to assume you are playing to win your game of poker. So here are a couple of key things on what to wear to your poker game. First and foremost wear clothing that compliments you. You know what you look good in. Do not wear clothing that is strange unless it is a joke. It can be pretty embarrassing if you are caught wearing something out of the ordinary. Next try to wear as much clothing as possible without over doing it. The whole point is to win. One piece garments are a no-no as you will be out of the game in a hurry. Also try to wear undershirts and things of that nature, if you can get away with it. Some strip poker games have rules that limit the number of items you can count as clothing, if you happen to run across one of these games good luck.
Overall when choosing your clothing for strip poker you want clothing that compliments you. Do not wear anything with holes in it unless it is apart of your fashion look. It can be pretty embarrassing if you have holes in your underwear or socks. And make sure to have a good time and relax while you are playing strip poker .

Experience Real Rock And Roll With Bruce Springsteen Concert Tickets

Bruce Springsteen concert tickets have been on the list of the most-wanted concert tickets for decades. Ever since he began playing the club scene in the mid sixties, Springsteen has developed a fan following that has literally followed him right across the country and around the world. Despite being an all-American musician, his appeal is universal as is seen in the extensive fan base he has in Europe.

A Career Of Milestones

Bruce Springsteen is one of the few musicians who have weathered the fluctuations of the music industry. While some musicians of his era either faded away or moved to the sidelines, Springsteen has consistently remained at the center of things. His career is made up of a number of marathon concerts and milestone achievements. Not only is he a member of the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame, he has also won a number of Grammy Awards and an Academy Award.

One of the reasons for the popularity of Bruce Springsteen concert tickets is that he has not allowed himself to settle into complacency. Early on, he wrote songs that had more lyrics than most artists had on their entire album at the time. He experimented with different styles, right from church music to hard rock. Springsteen is also not afraid to get political nuances into his songs. While some artists feel that political leanings could alienate their fan base, Springsteen has been bold in his feelings about causes like the war and even certain Presidential candidates.

Tour De Force

The main reason why so many fans want to get their hands on Bruce Springsteen concert tickets is because The Boss is known for putting on an incredible live show. His concerts are often marathon affairs which cover a gamut of styles, with a number of instrumental innovations being done live. Springsteen has never been one to rely on fancy special effects or drug-fueled performances. His shows are extremely intense, music-driven concerts aimed at true music lovers.

Some of Springsteen's most memorable shows include the Born to Run Tours, which were probably his most difficult yet most successful run of concerts. They were done in the midst of a legal tussle during a time when Springsteen was trying to make ends meet. The result was a series of tours, both across the country and abroad while trying to record at the same time. The tours lasted from 1974 to 1977 and he was backed by his faithful E Street Band. His image during these shows was that of an everyday working man in jeans, t-shirt and bandana. Many of the songs were rearranged and extended and he would often deliver narratives or stories during each set. In fact, some songs were performed fresh for these tours and seemed to slip away and disappear, never to be heard again. In this way, fans who had those Bruce Springsteen concert tickets were witness to some musical pieces that would never be heard again.

These were just one of the many unforgettable concert performances that Springsteen has given in his career. If you want to see The Boss perform live, contact an online ticket vendor to buy your Bruce Springsteen concert tickets.

What If Someone You Loved Died?

I'm an absolute sucker for sad movies. They make me cry every time, even the kid's ones. I think that is why they are called "Tearjerkers". Maybe it is just because I hate seeing people suffer but they always seem so real to me. I think the thing that gets me is the feeling of "what if that was me?" I was trying to decide between "Into the Wild" which is more of a drama/adventure and "PS I Love You" which is a love story. I'm not usually a very "lovey-dovey" type of person and I tend to go for drama more often than not but this time, my friend put her foot down and we went to see "PS I Love You". The acting wasn't award quality and the scenario wasn't altogether realistic but you know what, I could not have cared less. It seemed so real to me it would not have been any more genuine if the actors popped out of the screen before my eyes. "PS I Love You" is about Holly Kennedy (Hillary Swank). Just shy of her 30th birthday, Holly's passionate, funny, and impetuous Irishman husband Gerry passes away of a brain tumor. Holly locks herself at home replaying Gerry's answering machine voice until a cake arrives on the day of her 30th birthday with a recording of Gerry's voice. The recording explains that before his death, Gerry wrote letters to Holly, that would arrive in their own time and she should just do what he says," because the truth is, I am just not ready to let go yet…PS I love you". I don't think I have ever cried so much in a movie. Even the man next to me was starting to sniffle. Holly walks around during the majority of the movie looking stunned and miserable and you can't help sympathizing. Each time a letter arrived, Gerry's voice can be heard and sometimes he appears. Once each letter is read through and "PS I love you", Gerry quietly disappears again. Every time he leaves even the audience feels alone, it is utterly gut wrenching. The movie shows their good times together, how they met, where they went. Between each happy memory from the past, Holly is somewhere, feeling alone and just waiting for Gerry to walk through the door again. Every letter pushes Holly to move on further with her life, to gently let Gerry go and then to help her rediscover herself and her passion for life. I left this movie asking: What if that was my daughter whose husband had died? Would I do and say the same things as this mother? If I was Holly, how would I feel? What would I do to make it better? Would I move on? Would I find love again? If I had died so young like Gerry, would I die with no regrets like him, having loved someone so much? I think in the end, the best we can do is tell the people that we love, that we love them. And do our best to live our lives the best that we know how. Because when our loved ones die, we cannot change anything, we cannot bring them back by grieving forever, we can only cope, heal and find peace with ourselves.

A Piercing Story

That padded chair with black lace and leather skin is the scariest part of the entire process. Looking it dead in what I pretend to be its eye, I turn around and force my butt into it. Holding back a cheer I look Jesse in the earlobe. I can’t help it, it is huge. He looks at me and I almost yelp a bit. There is a needle on the desk...A HUGE needle on his desk. A piercing never starts in the studio, it starts in your head. Or in my case, on the internet. I had just got my earlobe pierced and was craving more. I searched in my area for piercing artists and Jesse came up as the best. I fell in love with one of his specialties. The custom industrial. Basically he takes a small barbell, bends it into a squiggly line and shoves it into the top half of your ear. I book the appointment, I had no idea what I was about to experience. I walk into his piercing studio. I start to sweat as the nice lady at the counter gives me a form and tells me to fill it out. I’m so nervous the pen is shaking. After finishing Jesse comes out and takes a quick look at it “you messed up this and that.”. I was so nervous I said I was born in 2007. I look at the man who is about to shove a squiggly bar into my ear and I suddenly feel safe. My heart slows down, my lungs stop burning, I am suddenly able to speak again. Not because he was professional looking, or looked experienced. It was the fact that I could very easily stick my entire hand (or a coffee mug) into his earlobe if I asked him really nice. This heavily modified man walks me into the piercing room and puts on his gloves. The first 10 minutes of the experience was exhilarating. I was sitting in that big comfy chair as he explained all the after care stuff I would have to do. An industrial piercing is considered one of the worst for healing. I would have to clean it twice a day for over a year. In that one year time I wouldn’t be able to sleep on that side of my head, I wouldn’t be able to wear certain hats and I could never, EVER touch it. He then took out all the stuff he is going to use, gloves, baggy of sharp looking things and turned on the radio. He put some kind of random chemical onto my ear and started the fun process of measuring. He takes out the most useful thing a piercer can ever own, his Pen. He starts making random looking marks and measurements on my ear. This is the reason I payed 90 bucks for the procedure. I payed 90 bucks to have this guy measure my ear, bend a bar into a squiggly line and shove a needle into my body. He put the pen down, unwrapped the needle and other tools he would use than changed his gloves. This was THE moment. Finally he was going to do exactly what I asked him to do. I closed my eyes, took a deep breath in and focused on some random buhddist mantras that did nothing to stop it from coming. He then told me I might feel some pressure. I held onto that chair for dear life. I kicked my leg out and bit my lip so hard I could of sworn it was going to bleed. Not only was it pain, it felt hot, like a hand drying machine times ten on just my ear. He teased me, mentioning the whole “almost done, now just a little more pressure” line. That was the understatement of the week. Like saying having an orgasm feels kind of okay. I wanted to scream at him, swear, cut, maim his body as he maimed mine. I was sweating and crunching up my face so much I thought it would fall off. Then it was over. He put the squiggly line into my ear and smiled. I knew before I looked into the mirror of awesomeness that my ear was going to be very red. Like a cherry that has been squashed onto the road. It was the heat that told me. I always felt the same way when I was embarrassed. I looked at Jesse, all my anger vanquished, extinguished like a light saber. This is one of the most painful piercing I have ever gotten, its going to be crappy to heal, probably hurt a lot if I touch it with anything and I might get fired from my job because of it....It is worth it.

Find Liu Wei Biography And Artwork At Saatchi-gallery

Born in 1965 in Beijing, Liu Wei was one of the major artists associated with the Cynical Realism (Wanshi xianshizhuyi) movement that emerged post 1989. Earning his degree from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing in 1989, Liu would go on to create paintings that typified much of the malaise felt post-Tiananmen Incident.

Liu has also participated in the 46th Venice Biennale in 1995, and has had solo exhibitions at the Jack Tilton Gallery in New York, USA in 1999 and the Urs Meile Gallery, Switzerland in 2004. Like his counterpart Fang Lijun, Liu has been perceived as displaying a kind of mischievous humour in his work, exemplifying the skepticism engendered after the brief but idealistic period starting from the end of the Cultural Revolution and leading up to the year 1989. With Deng Xiaoping’s economic and social reforms introduced in the late 1970s, China began opening its doors to new ideas, including capitalistic ideology and western culture. During this period intellectuals challenged past Maoist repressive modes, allowing new ideologies and philosophies to emerge and flourish, which in a sense created a certain air of idealism and freedom to think amongst the population.

With works such as New Generation (1990), Liu exhibits this sense of marked disdain. Using childhood images of himself and his brother as models for the piece, Liu places the children in front of a typical image of Mao. As Francesca Dal Lago notes, Liu plays upon the notion of Mao the icon and Mao the historical figure.(1) By placing the Chairman behind the children in his painting, Liu acknowledges the significance that the leader played in everyday life, yet emphasizes his current status as mere historical figure. No longer taking centre stage, Mao is relegated to the back, demanding acknowledgement of his past influence, but altogether powerless to change the future.

Combining realistic attitudes towards the political and social situation of China with sarcastic mockery of the authorities attempting to establish control, Liu creates a language that defines much of the era’s prevailing sentiment. Using bright colors reminiscent of Cultural Revolution propaganda while relegating the Chairman to background status, Liu chides authority for believing that they can return to the kind of control and nationalist zeal once maintained under Mao. Balancing sarcasm with pragmatism, Liu recognizes the withering effect of the authority’s inconsistent stance and their recent attempts to thwart democratic movements. With the threat of sanctioned imprisonment and persecution still acutely tangible since the Tiananmen Incident, Liu gives the children in New Generation faces older beyond their years. At once resigned to the struggle they face, they nonetheless appear irreverent in attitude as they attempt to displace Mao as centre of attention on canvas and in daily life.

Italian Neo Realistic Films And Its History

Neo realism is actually a term used to describe theatre style, and it means new realism. This conception of 'new reality' first started in Italy. This new idea redefined the whole perception of modernism.

After the First World War, Italy was going through a very frustrating time. Everything was shattered in a place otherwise so rich in culture. Films were not a mere exception. Italian neo realistic films emerged as an after effect of this social and political unrest.

The Italian film industry was going through a very tough time. All of the studios were broken and damaged; they did not have sufficient money to budget for film making. The renowned and crafty directors started to relocate to Hollywood. During this horrible time, Italian neo realistic films emerged.

In the post World War one period, people of Italy were searching for a medium through which they could raise their voices. There is a proven theory that art movement can unite people more than any other type of protest. Italy proved this fact once again.

Directors like Roberto Rossellini, Vittorio De Sica emerged and they showed their new weapon, not only to Italy, but also to the whole world.

The first among the neo realistic films of Italy was Quattro passi tra le nuvole, which translates to 'Four steps in the clouds', by Alessandro Blasetti in the year 1942. But this was just the beginning. Italian neo realistic films started to become popular with directors like, vittorio De Sica, Roberto Rossellini, etc.

Rossellini made Rome Open City or Roma Citta Aperta in the year 1945, which became one of the milestone films of neo realism. This film depicts the brutal torture of the Nazis on Italians. He also made two more world-class neo realistic films, Paisa and Germania Anno Zero. The compilation of these three films is called the 'Trilogy of Rossellini'.

But, most probably the most famous neo realistic film, is 'Bicycle Thief' or 'Ladri di Biciclette' by Vittorio De Sica. This film was released in the year 1948.

The largest portion of this film was shot outdoors. The most interesting thing is that no professional actor was used in this film, and surprisingly, the lead character, Ricci, played by Lamberto Maggiorani was not at all a professional actor.

The story tells about an unemployed man who gets a job, and through turn of events he gets his bicycle stolen. The story spins on his helplessness and how quickly the search for his bike changes his life.

This film very artistically depicts the problems of a common person and how society victimizes him.

The most touching point of this film is the climax, when the little boy, Bruno watches his father get bitten by the mob after stealing a bicycle. At that point the story does not just tells the story of a single man, but of another story of a new bicycle thief.

This film throws a question to the society: 'who is responsible for giving birth to a criminal?' Actually, many Italian neo realistic films dealt with such social issues.

Some other very famous Italian neo realistic films are, Sciuscia a.k.a. shoeshine, 1946, Miracolo a Milano a.k.a Miracle in Milan, 1950, Umberto D, 1952. Umberto D was the last film of this Italian neo realistic films genre.

Pocahontas

Contrasting all those other movies that show special effects and high speed car races, Pocahontas is all about appreciating the natural world and trusting our inner most feelings.

Based on real historical events, Pocahontas depicts a slightly different version of John Smith's expedition to Virginia.

In 1607, a ship carrying British settlers sails for North America in search of gold. The handsome Captain John Smith leads the band of rag-tag English Sailors while Governor Ratcliffe lazily lounges around giving orders.

Meanwhile, in the Powhatan tribe, Pocahontas, the beautiful daughter of Chief Powhatan learns that she is to marry the tribes greatest warrier Kocoum. Pocahontas thinks Kocoum is too serious for her wild natrue and travels to an enchanted glade to ask for advice from the talking tree Grandmother Willow. Pocahontas has had a dream of a spinning arrow that is telling her that change is coming. Grandmother Willow tells Pocahontas to listen with her heart.

When the settlers arrive in Virginia the Powhatans cautiously observe them, hoping they mean no harm and will leave soon. But alas, one of the Powhatan warriors is spotted and a battle ensues. Chief Powhatan declares that the 'pale face' white men are dangerous and no one is to go near them.

While the two groups are busy shooting at each other, Pocahontas and John Smith meet and patiently learn about each other. When John explains that the settlers want to develop houses and teach 'savages' about civilization, Pocahontas sings "Colours of the Wind" to explain the value of the natural world as it is. While the Powhatans are simple, they have valuable wisdom that cannot be taugh by the settlers.

A few days later, John decides to revisit Pocahontas. Pocahontas and John sneak off to the enchanted glade where John meets Grandmother Willow. Governor Radcliffe is convinced the 'savages' are hiding his gold so John decides to ask Pocahontas. The Powhatan's extreme purity and appreciation for the land is evident when John tries to explain what he is talking about by saying it is yellow and very valuable and Pocahontas pulls out a cob of corn. John Smith learns that here is no gold.

On both sides, the settlers and the warriors have decided to fight. A neighbouring tribe has arrived to help the Powhatans destroy the white men and the settlers decide to ambush the Powhatans.

John Smith returns to the settlement and tries to explain that there is no gold but Ratcliffe believes this is a lie. Pocahontas and Smith meet and talk about trying to convince both sides that there is no gold and there is no danger. Unfortunately, events do not always work the way they should. Smith gets mistakenly arrested and sentenced to death. As full out war is nearly waged, and Smith is about to be ended, Pocahontas stops everyone else in their tracks and says, "Look where the path of hatred has brought us!".

While I probably will not go live out in the wild now, this really makes you think about the things wee deem as imortant. We need to see the world in all its beauty, for the highest trees and the greatest star constelations. We needs to see other people and things from different points of view, because what for some might be a dangerous bear, is really just a mama looking after her babies. We need to keep dreaming and aiming for those things our hearts desire, because the things we seek might be 'just around the riverbend'. Appreciate the things around you and keep dreaming.

Film Review: The Breed (2006)

Executive producer Wes (A Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream) Craven has been a good influence on this horror film about genetically engineered dogs that take over an isolated island and cause some vacationers serious trouble. Written by Robert Conte and Peter Martin Wortmann THE BREED is about a group of friends that head out to a vacation house to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life for just one weekend. Unbeknownst to them that they will have to use their whit to out think a bunch of intelligent dogs who refuse to let anyone else inhabit their island.

Trapped in the vacation house the friends have to get off the island by any means necessary but the pack of dogs have other plans as they are always one step ahead of the humans. Although the script is fairly straight forward and bland director Nicholas Mastandrea does a great job with presenting the action sequences, which keep the film rolling forward in the second half of the film. The first half of the film is the weak link in that it ebbs and flows very slowly as it sets up the rest of the film but this first half is so predictable and borrows so much from other horror films that came before it that it comes off as cliché.

Even with the cliché script it is the cast that shines in this film as they have put together a good ensemble with Michelle Rodriguez, Oliver Hudson, and Taryn Manning, to name a few. They are very well together and at times elevate the pedestrian script. Also of note is Giulio Biccari’s cinematography which make the film look bigger and better then it actually is and putting this film on par which such other theatrical films as TOURISTAS, WHEN A STRANGER CALLS (the remake), or JOYRIDE. THE BREED may not be as ground breaking as CUJO but it has its moments.

Poker Is Cooking

Poker is cooking. While it is certainly a lot sexier to compare poker and coitus, such a comparison leads to an ungainly conclusion – do you really want to think of 10 un-showered old guys sitting in a smoky room and sex at the same time? Cooking is the better metaphor. • First of all, poker is a game of patience just like cooking. Even for the most aggressive of players, most of your time at the poker table is spent folding your cards and waiting. Likewise, most of your time spent cooking is time spent waiting for the right opportunity to fuss with your ingredients more. • Once the time is right, a lot of things happen all at once. In poker, you’ll fold five hands in a row then pick up pocket tens. Immediately, you have to factor in your table position, how many players are already involved in the pot, who those players are, how many poker chips you have and THEN you have to figure out how to bet. Same thing goes for cooking: you wait and wait for your skillet to heat up then you have to add two tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, three minced garlic cloves, pinch of salt, a teaspoon of cumin, a little chili powder, a bay leaf, then sear the chicken but flip it before it burns, then add the white wine then simmer, cover… and wait for another twenty minutes. • A card room or a casino works a lot like a restaurant. First thing that you do is walk up to the person at the counter and put your name on a list to sit down. Then you go wait at the bar for them to call you. • Finally your name is called and someone in a suit leads you to a chair at a table. Once you sit down, someone even brings you chips just like at a Mexican restaurant. • The dealer is your server. If you cook at home, everyone usually serves themselves, but once you enter the friendly confines of a restaurant the server is there to speed your meal along and take care of any special requests you might have. The dealer will take care of your table in much the same way. The dealer also expects to be tipped. • While you can make most any dish in most any place provided you have the ingredients, cooking tends to be very different in different parts of the world. From the beans and rice of Costa Rica to the high priced gourmet of LA to the fried everything of Great Britain, food changes from place to place. So too does poker: go to Costa Rica and expect to get involved in slow Limit Hold’em and Stud, go to LA and you’ll be involved in high stakes action-packed No Limit Hold’em and go to Great Britain and get ready to play Pot Limit Omaha. • Whether you play in a home game or go to out to eat, it’s always nice to do it on a neatly set table. • Great chefs and poker masters come in all shapes and sizes – from the Mario Batali/Doyle Brunson type to the Gus Hansen/Bobby Flay type. Body type is no pre-requisite for either activity. • Movies about both tend to be awful. If you are looking for a truly awful poker movie, and there are so many to choose from, check out “All-in” with Michael “Mr. Blonde” Madsen. For a recent wretched cooking movie rent “Spanglish” with Adam Sandler. On the other hand, for a good poker flick check out the seminal "Rounders" with Matt Damon and Edward Norton. And for fine food cinema you can’t go wrong with Stanley Tucci’s all-time great “Big Night”. • At the heart of all cooking there is a simple equation – change in temperature + food = cooking. Every last bit of food you ever eat has been through some derivation of this equation. At the heart of all poker there is an equally simple equation – cards + bet = pot and every cent you win or lose in poker has been done under this equation’s umbrella. Any beginner can pick up a get a seat at a table and win a pot just like any ten year old can make scrambled eggs. • Of course, to master either takes a lifetime.

Growing Your Business With Invoice Factoring

Is cash a little bit tight? Have you ever risked missing payroll? Have you ever had to pass up an opportunity because you did not have enough money? If so, you are not alone. Every business owner goes through those same challenges every day. Some come out on top. Others perish.

What is the biggest difference between those that succeed and those that perish? Cash flow. And plenty of it.

If you work with commercial or government clients, then you are already used to waiting up to 60 days to get paid by your clients. That is ok if your business has lots of resources and a stash of cash in the bank. But what if you don't?

One of the most frustrating things that can happen to a business owner is realizing that his company is invoice rich and cash poor. Meaning, you have tons of money owed to you by clients (and payable in 60 days) but little cash to show for it. This does nothing for you, if you need to meet payroll in 3 days or need money to buy supplies for a new project. Fortunately, there is an easy way to turn those invoices into cash, without using any collections or heavy-handed tactics.

The solution involves factoring your invoices. Never heard of invoice factoring? You are not alone. Factoring is one of the most used and least talked about business financing tools. It allows you to convert your invoices into immediate cash. It helps you turn your invoice rich business into a cash rich business.

Qualifying for factoring is simple and only takes a few days. As opposed to business loans, you don't need a long business history or reams of financial statements to qualify. All you need are invoices for credit worthy commercial clients or government clients.

And how does factoring work? Well, it simpler than you think. As soon as you have completed a job, you submit an invoice to your client and send a copy to the factoring company. The factoring company will advance you a substantial portion of your invoice, usually within a day. Once your client pays the invoice, the transaction is settled.

As you can see, factoring provides you with immediate cash as soon as you invoice. This helps you meet payroll, pay suppliers and take on new jobs. With factoring, you can streamline your billing cycle and grow your company, without ever needing a business loan.
